Syllabus

Please see below Leverage Martial Arts’ Freestyle Kickboxing syllabus.   The grade/belt order is as follows:

We have only listed below the grading requirements up to 4th Grade, Blue belt.  Your instructor will provide you the full syllabus as you continue your training and progress through to higher grades.

 

1st Grade – White belt 10th kup

Exercises   (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Skipping for: 2 minutes

FIVE Minutes to stretch off arms, legs, etc…

All in quantities of 10: Sit-ups, Push-ups, Squat jumps, back extensions

All techniques to be performed in both stances

(Alternate arms and legs techniques)

 Hands

1)  1st TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Jab

2) 1st TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Jab, Ba/arm Reverse Punch

3) 1st TAG Shuffle forward: two Backfists Fr/Ba arm

 Legs

1) 2nd TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/leg Front Kick

2) 2nd TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/leg Roundhouse kick

3) 2nd TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/leg Side kick

Shadow Boxing: hands + legs for 1and a half minute

(45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Horse Riding Stance: for 1 minute    

TO TAKE THIS GRADE YOU MUST HAVE:  SKIPPING  ROPE, MOUTH GUARD,  Jnr / Snr AND BOXING GLOVES, Jnr/ Snr


2nd Grade – Yellow belt 9th kup

Exercises   (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Skipping for 2 x 2 minutes, Variations: Kris Cross, 2 in-fronts 2 to side,

Doubles, high knees, backwards & forwards, open and close, jumping side to side

FIVE Minutes to stretch off arms, legs, etc…

All in quantities of: 15 Sit-ups, Push-ups, Squat jumps, back extensions

All techniques to be performed in both stances

(Alternate arms and legs techniques)

 Hands

1)  1st TAG  Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Jab, two Uppercuts, Fr/Ba Arm

2)  1st TAG  Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Jab, two Hook Punches, Ba/Fr Arm

3)  1st TAG  Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Jab, two Ridge Hands, Fr/Ba Arm

Legs

1)  2nd TAG  Shuffle forward: Ba/leg Hook kick, Ba/leg knee strike

2)  2nd TAG  Back leg: Back Kick

3)  2nd TAG  Ba/leg: Front kick, Side Kick, Ba/leg Roundhouse kick

Shadow Boxing: hands + legs for 2 minute (45secounds recovery time between       rounds)

Sparring – two x 2 minute rounds (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Horse Riding Stance: for 1 and a half minute

To demonstrate Belt tie up two minutes

FOR THIS GRADE YOU WILL NEED ALL PREVIOUS BITS OF EQUIPMENT, ALONG WITH EITHER FOOT PADS, S-M-LXL  AND SHIN GUARDS, Snr /Jnr


3rd Grade – Green Belt 8th kup

Exercises(45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Skipping for, 3 x 2 minutes, Variations: Kris Cross, 2 front 2 to side, doubles, high knees, backwards & forwards, open and close, jumping side to side

FIVE Minutes to stretch off arms, legs, etc…

All in quantities of 20: Sit-ups, Push-ups, Squat jumps, back extensions

All techniques to be performed in both stances

Hands

1)  1st TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/Ba Arm two Outer Blocks, Fr/arm Open Palm Strike to face

2)  1st TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Double Jab, Cross punch, Ba/leg Roundhouse kick to head

3)  1st TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/Ba Arm two Inner Blocks, Hook  punch to body Fr/arm same arm pull back, Uppercut Chin

Legs

1)  2nd TAG  Fr/leg, Jumping front kick, Ba/leg roundhouse kick

2)  2nd TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/leg Side Kick, Ba/arm Reverse Punch

3)  2nd TAG Shuffle forward: Fr/arm Backfist, Ba/leg Hook kick

Blocking Techniquesto be performed in both stances

No.1 Attacker:  Left Stance. Shuffle forward  Fr/arm Jab to head

Defender:  Left Stance. Shuffle Back, Ba/arm Outer block Grab wrist, Fr/arm  elbow to temple.

Sparring – three x 2 minute rounds (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Shadow Boxing: hands + legs for 2 and half minutes (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Horse Riding Stance: for 1 and half minutes

FOR THIS GRADE YOU WILL NEED ALL PREVIOUS BITS OF EQUIPMENT, ALONG WITH  EITHER:

HEAD GUARD S-M-L  GROIN GUARD Snr /Jnr S-M-L AND CHEST GUARD S-M-L-XL


4th Grade – Blue Belt 7th kup

Skipping for: 3 x 2 minutes: Variations: Kris Cross, 2 front 2 to side, doubles, high knees, backwards & forwards, open and close, jumping side to side

Exercises: (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

FIVE Minutes to stretch off arms, legs, etc…

All in quantities of 25: Sit-ups, Push-ups, Squat jumps, back extensions

All techniques to be performed in both stances

(Alternate arms and legs techniques)

Hands

1)  1st  TAG Shuffle back: Fr/arm Lower Outer Block, Ba/leg Front kick, Fr/arm Jab, Cross Punch Ba/arm

2) 1st  TAG Fr/arm Jab, Step forward Fr/arm side Hammer to head, Ba/arm Upset Fingertip thrust to Groin, pull other arm back to Ba/shoulder

3) 1st TAG Shuffle Fr/arm Upper block, same arm Grab pull down, Ba/arm  hook Punch to body, hook Punch to head

 Legs

1)  2nd TAG Ba/leg Jumping Roundhouse kick

2)   2nd TAG Ba/leg Roundhouse kick, Spinning Kick, Axe kick

3) 2nd TAG Shuffle Back: Fr/arm Lower Outer Block, Ba/leg front   kick side kick, without dropping the leg, Shuffle front leg hook kick

 Blocking Techniques:  to be performed in both stances         

(These must be learnt by number i.e. you will be asked to perform Number 1 Blocking Technique… Then Number 2 blocking technique etc)

No.3 Attacker: Left Stance. Step forward, right arm punch to face.

Defender:Left Stance. Jump up and back, block down with Fr/arm, Reverse Punch over the top with Ba/arm

No.4 –Same as before as No: (3) but from Right stance

Shadow Boxing: hands + legs for 3 minutes (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Focus Pad Work: hands + legs for 4 minutes (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Sparringfour: x 2 minute rounds (45secounds recovery time between rounds)

Horse Riding Stance: for 2 and half minutes
